Short answer
- Everyone pays it, foreign or Nepali, guided or not.
- It costs NPR 2,000 and is collected at the Lukla airstrip counter.
- It replaced the TIMS card on the Everest side in 2023.
The Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality has charged this fee since April 2023, when it stopped accepting TIMS cards. It is collected at a counter next to the Lukla airstrip, and at Monjo for anyone who walks in from Jiri or Salleri.
Keep the card it comes with: rangers at Monjo ask to see it along with the park permit.
