Do I need to book teahouses in advance?
Not usually, except in Tengboche and Gorak Shep in October and November, where a phone call the day before helps.
Why is my room free?
Many lodges waive the room if you eat dinner and breakfast there. Ask before you check in.
How much is dal bhat in Namche?
NPR 900 this season, with free refills. It rises to NPR 1,400 at Gorak Shep.
How much is a hot shower above 4,000 m?
NPR 600 in Dingboche and NPR 700 at Gorak Shep. Solar showers are free in the afternoon at some lodges.
