Langtang ten years on: what a night costs now.

The valley was rebuilt after 2015. Lodges are new, prices are low, and the trail is quieter than Everest or Annapurna. We priced every lodge from Syabrubesi to Kyanjin Gompa.

The Langtang valley

The Langtang valley is the cheapest of Nepal’s main treks this season: USD 32 a day mid-range, against USD 53 on the Everest side.

Rebuilt, and cheaper

Most lodges were rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, many by the families who ran them before. Rooms are simple and often free with meals.

Who it suits

Trekkers with a week, who want mountains without flights: the trail starts a day’s drive from Kathmandu.

“We built the lodge again with our own hands. We keep the price fair.”
