Cash and ATMs on the trail

Where the last ATM is, and how much cash to carry.

Last ATM, Everest
Namche Bazaar
Last ATM, Annapurna
Chame
Carry
About USD 50 a day
Cards
Rarely accepted

Short answer

  • Carry cash in rupees for the whole trek.
  • The last ATMs are in Namche and Chame, and often run out in October.
  • Cards work at a few lodges, with a fee.

ATMs on the trail charge a fee and run out of cash in peak season. Change money in Kathmandu before you fly.

A useful rule is the daily budget plus 10% for every day on the trail.
